Fundraising through selling books

Fundraising through second hand book sales

July 2013

We have now sold more than three quarters of the 100,000 second hand books donated by UK charity BookAid – and raised over one million Naira (about £4,000) to fund our work in Nigeria.

Since the first book stalls in December the Jos team has been taking the books to a couple of local churches and theological colleges each month.

In good weather the books can be laid outside on the ground for people to browse.

However, it is now the rainy season in Nigeria and books need to be undercover and inside, so fewer books can be displayed and sold.

“We’ve covered the shipping and customs costs now and all profits are going towards our ministry activities,” said international coodinator Tassie Ghata.
