Encouraging the teams in Fufore and Ankpa

Volunteers in Fufore and Ankpa have rededicated themselves to working with Grace & Light during monitoring visits in May and June.

Monitors from Yola and Jos offices visited the teams to encourage them and discuss the day-to-day challenges they face.

"We were last in Ankpa five years ago, though we would love to be able to visit every year,” said Grace & Light international coordinator Tassie Ghata.

“Our teams in Ankpa and Fufore are faithful in visiting churches to share the gospel, do HIV testing and set up life sharing groups. They do face difficulties.”

Neither team has a vehicle so they travel to churches on public transport, which is expensive. They also face resistance from churches that have their own HIV work.

Tassie said, “Usually their work is less open. We talked with the volunteers about how they can help these churches see Grace & Light compliments what they do, we’re not in competition.”
