Zambia visit

Enthusiastic volunteers in Zambia

Volunteers in Zambia are more enthusiastic and eager to share Grace & Light’s vision in local churches, following a visit with Tassie Ghata.

International coordinator Tassie Ghata visited Zambia in April. Initial plans were for a 16 day visit from 1 April, but visa delays meant Tassie arriving on 6 April and staying until the 17th.

“It was a joy to see our nine volunteers grow in knowledge of the Lord and commitment to Grace & Light during refresher training,” said Tassie.

“Two of our volunteers are HIV positive and they are willing to be open anywhere sharing what God is doing in their lives.”

As well as the refresher training for volunteers and staff member Idah Kayeka, Tassie also spoke at two pastors’ conventions.

One hundred people in the Ndola District Pastors’ Fellowship and 58 people in the Copperbelt Zonal Pastors’ Fellowship in Mishili came to hear Tassie speak about HIV and its ravaging effect on the church.

“Many of them wanted to be tested then and there. Instead I asked them to open their churches and invite our volunteers in to share our vision and test.”

The Zambian volunteers visit a church once a month. Tassie joined them on her first Sunday at a small congregation in Ndola where 40 people chose to be tested.
