Violence and dispersion in north eastern Nigeria are hurting our volunteer teams – we ask you to pray for them.
While Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram has not yet attacked Yola, the capital of Adamawa State is filling up with refugees from other areas including Maidaguri and towns where our volunteer teams are based.
We have 60 volunteers in Gombe, Hong, Michika, Mbui and Biu – all supported by our office in Yola. We are in contact with 40 of the volunteers; since September we’ve not been able to contact the other 20.
Most of our volunteers in these teams have been displaced; some are living in the bush, others with relatives. Family members have been killed, homes burnt and businesses destroyed. The same is true of the life sharing groups and churches they support.
We are very concerned and ask you to join us in praying for:
- Safety for our volunteers and their families
- Their relationships with God; that they will stay close to him
- Churches and church leaders
- Peace in the area between Christians and Muslims
- People living with AIDS will continue to receive support and care.
