We had our positive members workshop on 21st March. Members were very much encouraged by being able to share experiences of living openly with HIV.
Mercy, one of the positive members from Angwan Rukuba, had never understood our principle openness, she has for about two years lived and suffered in fear and secrecy until she came to that meeting and heard other positive members’ stories. Her spirit was lifted up and she went home with peace that she will tell everyone concerned about her HIV status.
All that came for that meeting were women. We have noticed for a very long time now that our male members don’t come out for programmes, some hardly come out for drugs. Pray that we will find ways of reaching men and help them live openly with HIV.
A prayer item from our single positive members is that they will be able to find life partners. Stigmatization is something that this is a real struggle for most of them.
