UK trustee Jo Ann Eastgate, Mike Eastgate and Trish Chatfield, a trustee with our partner charity Amen, have tested out the route for a fundraising walk we are planning for June next year.
They now have a circular walk that takes in beauty spots for drinks stops, climbs up through woodland glades, spectacular views of a distant London, Box Hill, Mickleham, Dorking and the Mole River Valley.
Jo Ann, Mike and Trish started out with coffee at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking before walking for two hours up through the vineyard, out onto Ranmore Common and then across the North Downs to Polesden Lacey for lunch.
The climb was moderate with well-maintained and even paths as well as spectacular views across to Box Hill and Leith Hill. After Ranmore Common their route took them through open farmland and the dappled shade of woods.
After lunch they walked across the Polesden Lacey estate, which is managed by the National Trust, then through the woods of Norbury Park, along the Mole Valley and back to Denbies in time for afternoon tea.
We will be providing more information about our fundraising walk and inviting you to join us in the next couple of months. Please do put the date – Saturday, 3 June 2017 – in your diary and register your interest with Jo Ann at jo.ann01@btconnect.com
We have loaded photographic highlights of Trish, Mike and Jo Ann's practice walk on Flickr to give you an idea of the places we will be walking through.
