This year our UK supporters event moved from London to Worthing, allowing us to meet and thank donors and prayers in Southern England.
Trish and Chris Chatfield hosted the event at their home, generously providing afternoon tea on 9 September. They are trustees for AMEN, a grant making trust that has supported Grace & Light for many years.
Trish shared highlights of their visit to our work in Nigeria a couple of years ago. Then UK trustee Jo Ann Eastgate gave an update on all that has been happening in Grace & Light over the past 12 months.
Our volunteer teams have visited 64 churches where they shared the gospel with 13,000 Nigerians. Of these 5,500 chose to be tested for HIV/AIDS, 3,900 joined life sharing groups, 1,600 rededicated their lives to Christ, 259 made first commitments and 55 tested positive.
Over the 12 months the Jos team visited ten schools and share the gospel with 4,500 secondary students. Sixteen hundred chose to be tested, with three positives, 877 rededicated their lives and 330 made first commitments.
Jo Ann also looked ahead to 2018 with an overview of projects including new mini buses, printing materials in English and Hausa, construction of the retreat centre, and training for new volunteers, existing volunteers and facilitators.
Grace & Light is also hoping to start ministry in Borno State, it is in an insurgency area and has been unsafe until recently. Funds raised during the charity walk next summer will support this ministry.
